I am enamored with painting with dyes on silk because it affords luminosity not available with any other medium. The dyes permeate the fibers of the silk fabric, creating a wonderful shimmering and transparent effect. After painting with liquid dyes, the fabric is steamed for several hours to set the color, then stretched and framed in a traditional manner.

The subjects for my silk paintings are varied, but I always try to interpret the things and places I love in color, composition, and form. I try to capture the beauty in every place I travel, from Europe to Mexico as well as lovely Northern California, where I live..

I am hooked on the process and resulting paintings of brushing dyes on silk and I hope you will enjoy them. Some originals are available, as well as giclée prints in all sizes.
